Birds, Leaves, Flowers, and More!

Once all of the Galison Green line formats were developed to our 100% recycled standard, we began delving into the product design and artwork selection (our favorite part!). Our obvious goal was to use artwork that looked "green" and "environmental," but we also focused on utilizing strong color palettes and imagery that had a handmade quality.

After months of research and planning, we settled on five solid themes, all of which brought to life the concept of going green: birds, leaves, flowers, handmade collage, and typography. We had the privilege of working with talented artists, such as UK illustrator Lucie Summers, who created the handmade collages for the Lucie Summers collection. Our approach with the Leaf Garden and Little Blue Birds artwork was to portray nature in a charming and whimsical fashion. And lastly, the Alphabet line is more conceptual with a PLAY on words (can you find them?).

Artwork and design aside, we are so pleased with the quality of our recycled products. As consumers, we hope that you feel good using the Galison Green stationery products. After all, you're contributing to the ongoing cycle of keeping our planet green. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

 
The Galison design team has been anticipating the release of the Galison Green line for quite some time now!  As young designers, we are conscious of how what we create impacts our world, and as an office we strive to follow the mantra: “Reduce, reuse, recycle.”  One only has to witness the many blue recycle bins sprinkled throughout our office to know this.

The goal of the green line was to create products made of 100% recycled material with minimal yet attractive packaging. We wanted simplicity that did not neglect design details. For example, the new Writer’s Notecards come in a simple one piece box that includes a cut-out window with cute detailing on the corners. 

We also drew inspiration from the fabulous artwork we worked with while designing the products.  Stay tuned to the Galiwag for more on the artwork soon!

Until then, we’re very excited to have the Galison Green line as a great new addition to our collection!

A Production Point of View

We are so excited to be offering a line of recycled products.  One of the challenges of creating an eco-friendly line, is, of course, finding the material to use.  We wanted to share a little insight from our production department about their journey, which was the first step in bringing the Green Line to life.

The Galison production team has been researching recycled products and materials for years, but was unable to find the perfect balance of excellent quality and affordable retail pricing. Fortunately, since the demand for recycled products has grown dramatically, the cost of recycled materials has decreased, while the availability has increased. Finding a good quality recycled stock was no longer rare and expensive! Suddenly we had real choices, and the dream of Galison Green was becoming a reality.

 

Once the formats themselves were finalized, the design team expertly transformed them into beautiful, simple, and eco-friendly products.
