National Walk to Work Day

 

Today is “National Walk to Work Day”, and if there is something New Yorkers know how to do, it’s walk!

Lots of us here, at Galison/Mudpuppy, walk a significant amount of our daily commute and some walk the whole way from home to work.

Here are a couple of Galison/Mudpuppy employees walking to work this morning; we hope you enjoy the sights as much as we do.

1st up is Cynthia, our Mudpuppy creative director.

Cynthia walks to work every day!

Her starting point was the East Side; 54^th Street and 9^th Avenue.

From there Cynthia cut across town to Broadway and down through Times Square!

And then she took one more quick cut across town to get to the Galison/Mudpuppy offices on 44th street.

Next to walk to work is Heather, from our Galison design team. Heather walked from her apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Heather's walk starts with a quick breakfast pick-up, then into Central Park where she can enjoy her breakfast at the Conservatory Water.

After eating breakfast, it is a beautiful walk down through central park! (I'm jealous of these beautiful views!)

 

Once through Central Park it is just a short jaunt down 6th Avenue to our Mid-Town offices!

Third is Liz in customer service. Liz commutes from New Jersey, so it's a little harder for her to walk the whole way to work. Liz arrived from New Jersey to Port Authority on the west side of Manhattan. She then walked the short distance from Port Authority, on 8th Avenue and 40st Street, to Galison/Mudpuppy.

Liz also got to see the sights of Times Square; as well as the New York Times building and Bryant Park!

And last is myself, Shannon; I commuted from Brooklyn to the Galison offices in Manhattan.

I started with a short walk through my neighborhood to the East River Ferry.

From my Brooklyn neighborhood, to Manhattan is just a short 10 minute ferry ride, but alas, I didn't get to ride the ferry. Ferries were running on a holiday schedule, so they didn't start till 9:30am; too late for me to get to work.

Once into Manhattan, via the subway, I passed by Bryant Park and arrived at our offices.

All of our walks originate from different places, but end up at our beautiful offices; with vibrant sights along the way. Happy "National Walk to Work Day"!

Paris

 

It’s a cold, rainy day here in New York City. So why not take a trip to Paris; in our minds, and through our stomachs!

Jillian Phillips has illustrated some of our Galison Paris products, like the Book of Labels and Mini Sticky Notes,

and the, oh so creative, Marian of Sweetopia made those beautiful designs into cookies!

Who knew you could take stationery and make it edible? And the cookies are so beautiful that we almost wouldn’t want to eat them…..almost!

Thanks to Jillian and Marian, both very talented and a great team. It was a much needed trip to Paris and great inspiration!

New York Gift Fair

The New York International Gift Fair is currently in full swing.

We put lots of work, and of course love, into our Galison/Mudpuppy booth this year.

Galison/Mudpuppy Holiday Party

 

The annual Galison/Mudpuppy holiday party took place last week.

We celebrated the approaching holiday season with a get together at our New York offices. Everyone chipped in and brought a dish to share. And there was a little champagne, and, the ever festive, egg nog too!

The office had a blast taking a little break and enjoying the creations brought in, to kick off the season.

Galison Discovers Korea's Delicious Secret

 

 

Some say that there is no such thing as a free lunch, but the Galison/Mudpuppy team found out differently yesterday.

Kim, from our marketing department, entered for a chance to win a free catered lunch for our whole office; and she won!

Our office received a delicious lunch courtesy of Taste of Korea NYC. Taste of Korea NYC was launched to "promote Korean cuisine and local Korean restaurants in New York City." They are striving to get more poeple to try and experience Korean food.

You can find out everything you need to know about Korean ingredients, recipes and culinary traditions on Taste of Korea's Facebook page or website. And if you weren't already enticed, for every entry they recieve in the "Free Lunch Sweepstakes" $1 will be donated to Action Againt Hunger.

Thanks Taste of Korea NYC for the tasty lunch and of course Kim for entering. Everything was delicious and Korean food is now at the top of our "must eat more" list!
