We haven’t been blogging recently for two reasons:
1. We were busy getting the new spring products up on our website: go ahead…have a look at both Galison and Mudpuppy! For example, new Everyday Journals like this Andy Warhol Pop journal, and new sorting banks from Mudpuppy.
2. We were busy crafting “Safety Information” web pages to reassure both parents and store owners that Mudpuppy puzzles, games, and gifts meet Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act safety standards and have the required documentation.
So what’s the deal on new safety rules?
Well, if you are a store owner, please click here to read about the new regulations, how Mudpuppy has met them, and what new requirements mean for you. If you have heard rumors that you need documentation for all Mudpuppy products on your shelves, you will find the real facts on our wholesale website. (Spoiler Alert: You will also find copies of Certificates of Conformity for products we imported since November 12, 2008, the date after which these certificates are required. Earlier imports have been tested and are safe, but Certificates of Conformity are not issued retroactively and are not required for the earlier items.)
If you are a parent, please be assured that our products have been tested and met the standards for lead and for phthalates. Your only safety concern with Mudpuppy should be age appropriateness: while great for older children, several of our formats have small parts that could be a choking hazard for children under the age of three. These products are clearly labeled as possibly unsafe for younger children, but are safe for older children: Sticker Set Play Scenes, Magnetic Figures, Learning Wheels, and Calendars.
To learn more, please visit the Safety Information page at www.galison.com if you are an individual customer, and Safety Information on our wholesale site if you are a store owner. Feel free to post comments or questions here at the Galiwag, too.
Because it’s a lot more fun to tell you about our illustrators and what’s new!

As a parent, I want to know that the toy I am bringing to my child is safe. It's good that Galiwag makes safety a priority.
